I’ve tried this, and the item I “detarnished” became tarnished again within a week! Don’t do this, dont ruin your jewelry by using cheap routes. Use a tarnish treatment that’s meant to be used on jewelry, and won’t cause any fumes. lol
i thought baking soda was not a dangerous chemical,, as its used in food (baking)
why not breathe it ?
maybe just in America they cant handle a kettle with boiling water )
she forgot about the goggles and a mask ))
The cleaning action is dramatically increased if you add a teaspoon of salt. It is silver sulphide is that makes your silver look grey over time. This process is called oxidation (like the rusting of iron). When immersed in the baking soda/salt solution, the aluminium reacts with the silver sulphide, pulling the sulphur atoms out and “plating” them onto the aluminium as aluminium sulphide. The silver that remains from the reaction is redeposited onto the silver.

I tried this on my silver necklace but didn’t find it very successful after two or three tries.
I found that making a paste out of the soda and polishing it up with that worked miles better
thank you for the video. my necklace was getting prett bad and i tryed useing a method off google and it made it worse. i used yours and now it looks ne thank you

Yeah! Voice is great!
baking soda rocks!
You don’t really need to do it so many times, just leave in the solution longer… and, you should also rinse in clean water.
